So I saw an odd comment when looking at Rouen duck sizes.
The comment was an article about breed information and said that it took 2 years to reach their max size, which can get up to 12 pounds.
This brought up tons of questions...
*Does this mean all breeds of ducks will take from especially the one year mark to the 2 year mark to reach the max sizes??*
(Does this mean other than Rouens especially, like pekings; which are considered a meat ducks?)
And does this mean that the rouen duck max size gets bigger than the pekings then? To see it stated for 12 pounds for rouens, and everything else saying 11 lbs for pekings, made me wonder which tops out in size? (I had thought pekings were the top size usually for duck breeds.)
And again, I always see discrepancies and huge numbers differences between egg production in many sites on duck breeds. :S This makes me confused looking stuff up.
Are rouens and welsh harlequinn any good for egg production?
And wanted to ask what you guys think about welsh harlequinns also. I saw someone in my area selling eggs for them. And I hadn't thought about this previously because there usually isn't anyone selling eggs for them near me.
What and where are the best egg production tables by breed that you guys would reccomend, for the best accuracy also?
Thanks.
What a great day for talking about ducks. I feel grateful to ask you veterans about this fun stuff. And while writing this I'm in the backyward under a shady tree watching runner ducklings play.
I'll try to post a pic in a minute also.
