Thanks. I went and had a look. Looks like some type bacterial infection. I went in search of a way to Disinfect the water safely and found the thread below.
Blackdog043 has a similar set up to that which I want and has no issues. Looks like it will be a Wait and See situation for me. At $20 for the Barrel, changing to a different setup is no great loss and a GREAT learning experience ...JJ
