You must have one heck of a water bill...

Good evening all! The chicks are moving around too fast for me to count. I THINK we are at 29 hatched, and 1 zipping and 2 pipped. I came home to one that had been zipped since first thing this morning. I took the rest of the shell off, but it's just having a little trouble un-bending. There are still about 12 babies in that 'bator. They are just trampling the poor weakling. Should I put it in a dish?

I think that once the zipping chick finishes, I'm going to candle everything and listen for signs of life. If I hear or see anything, how far do all of you go in getting them started?

You can put it in a dish, or let it go.
I would put any still viable eggs back in the incubator. If you want to assist, open an air hole, and go from there depending on what the chick is doing.

You could put it in a dish for it's safety. I don't assist in hatching at all.

I plan on setting some lavender orpingtons olive eggers and silkies this Saturday
WELCOME!!!!

16 Blue Laced Red Wyandotte eggs moved to the hatcher

SWEET!!! I set three trays in the cooler cabinet lol

I just went into lockdown with my isabells, ayam cemani, barnyard mix and sizzles. 30 eggs and all were moving! Some looked awfully small for 18 plus days but we shall see. I'm a bit nervous about hatching them upright in cartons. Just seems more natural to be laying down. Oh well still had a few loose air cells so I don't want to rock the boat.
GOOD LUCK!
