I candle my guinea eggs just like I do with the chickens, except like Pyxis says...they're harder to see than chicken eggs.
I haven't tossed any of the ones that have shown life, only if I was completely certain it was no good.
I candled mine last night due June 6 and all the ones I had put question marks on were moving fine.
So it was really good I hadn't chucked them out!

They're different than chicken eggs with how the embryo moves.
I don't care for incubating them....but I am looking forward to getting keets! Hopefully...

Good luck. I found them to be odd to candle too. Some seem to develop at different rates.
To me the eggs just look fluffy inside...lol. And if the fluff moves...it's alive.

(Super scientific methods I use, I tell ya!)

I had to put down two chicks from the 16th hatch. One had a damaged hip and one was a failure to thrive.
Poor little guys. I have one more that's a failure to thrive, I keep hoping he'll catch on...

What on EARTH are you going to do with them all if they all hatch?

Fear not, 48 of them went into the Janoel, so I'll be lucky if any of those hatch. Squeezed 20 or so into the RCOM, so those might do a little better, though the middle is running warmer, so we'll see.

Set so far, 137 pea eggs. Now I need to find broodies for the remaining 20, plus any they lay tonight.

If I do end up with too many, I'm sure the feed store will buy them from me, or I can sell them on craigslist.

The third keet egg hatched late this afternoon.
I just happened to look in and it was in front of her, wet and getting cold

...so I swooped it up and put it under the first broody with the first two keets.
I was a surprised when I checked back later because it wasn't a normal colored keet like I thought...lol.
It has a white belly and wings.

Does anyone know if keets are like a chick and don't need feed asap?
Or do they need food right away?

I took them from the broody for tonight to make sure they get food and water.
I gave her another egg....(shhhhh, she doesn't suspect a thing...lol)
Hopefully I did the right thing.

I thought the air cells on the 4 unmarked eggs looked pretty big.
Checked tonight; one's internally pipped and the rest look ready too.
So I upped the humidity and checked back when the broodies hatched the first chicks. (these are eggs started the day I was gone.)
Yep, they're due on Tuesday...
