Quote: And Good Morning to you, Joey!

Quote: Thank you! I wasn't going to hatch anymore until the spring but the eggs were gifted to me. They're 7 or 8 days old, I know viability goes down drastically at 7 days but I couldn't make egg salad out of them like my husband wanted me to.
Nice gift to receive! Egg salad kind of sounds good now, but not with those eggs.

The Russian Orloff chick that pipped the wrong end of the egg hatched this morning! It pipped through the membrane last night, this morning it had zipped almost completely around the egg, but was not moving. When I checked on it, I woke up the two buddies we left in the incubator to keep her company. They bumped the egg while running around going crazy and she popped out :) We named her Svetlana.

Here are her sisters are Oksana and Bela. We're optimistically giving them all girl names since we'll only be keeping one rooster.

Two unpipped eggs left in the incubator. Should I leave them for a few days? We're happy with 13/15. We were hoping for around eight hens.
