Woke up to an external pip in my Hatcher bator!

I had to leave the house to get more stuff for my duck pen/ second house. So I wasn’t watching the bator today being all tempted to keep messing with it.

I am in Iowa and it is easier to find them here, although many of my birds came from MI.

Just realized there’s barely any room for this chick to stand up, I forgot to remove the second tray meant for the egg turner :/ would it be bad if I took out all the eggs and removed one of the trays? Or is that too risky

I’m so flustered I know that I had three pups when I left home and our one hour trip that should have been less than 3 hours round trip took us almost 4 just to get there. Some major flooding has taken out several dams and damaged a major highway and many small bridges so even alternate routes were unavailable. My stress level is so high. I’m finally on the way home with my service dog though so now if we can just make it home

I would not hesitate to remove the eggs and the tray. I would put the eggs in a flat or carton, depending on the number, with the air cell up and be as quick as possible.

Marans eggs (any variety) seem to be a hot item on ebay, so would think the chicks would be as well. I was going to try $3.00 for day old barnyard chicks and $4.00 for day old special breed chicks and then add $1.00 to the cost every week.....but I haven't sold many chicks.

My barnyards are $3 usually. I am going to try them at $5 for the marans if too many people want them then I will bump the price next eggs I set.

Hey all! I have enjoyed catching up on all of your journeys this month and especially the pictures. I am sorry to hear that there are some of you dealing with dam failures and flooding .

We hatched some chicks out on the 16th. So, I thought I would share them. Here they are at 3 days old. 18 hatched out of 18 eggs I hope that I didn't overdo the pictures.
