Questions for you about he pictured egg turner. I assume it is manual. How do you like it? What would you change if you made another?

Thank you to whoever said my brooder was a bit hot, I think it was a few degrees high. I have adjusted the lamp and moved it to a more better location.
I haven't had any of the additional eggs PIP so I will turn the incubator off tomorrow...
What do I look for during egg-tospsies? Is there a good thers for that? I am curious but also not looking forward to it. Has anyone here done them before?

The nail test, or the ring test....you put a nail or ring (or I am using a metal washer) on a string and dangle it over the chick. Then the nail or ring will either sway back and forth in a straight line or make a circle. There is a bit of controversy over what pattern means what. Lots of sites say that a straight line is a boy and a circle is a girl, but a couple other sites and my tests on myself, my dog, auto sexing chicks show the opposite - circle is a boy and line is a girl. I also have a theory that if you hold the chick (if under 3 weeks or more of a bantam size) while you do it that it will pick up your own personal magnetism as it overpowers the small chicks. I am doing an experiment with it just for fun and posted videos in a previous post doing it to 2 of my Bielefelders (Auto sexing so already know what they are) and a 4 day old chick.

Day 20, so I have 4 out, half a dozen more pipped that I can see and 1 zipping. Time for a shower and bed

More eggs keep making their way into the incubator... 3 guinea eggs, a few more from the coop.

Nice mix came in Friday from Foxfire and Liege Fighters get here tomorrow

Will have a hatcher incubator started up right before the Narragansetts go into lock down. Then 4 or 5 more batches after that.

Can’t forget about the Khaki ducklings needing to go outside. Is 3 weeks too early? 3 weeks didn’t feel too early for the Pekin, but the Khakis are so much smaller.

Then the grow out coop and run is full of the Deathlayers, Spitzhaubens and sebright mixes. So nowhere to put anyone!

A week ago.

Now...

This is only going to get worse...
