I’m super upset right now I just got home from a run to get propane and I went in to turn my eggs and I got in the room and something smelled electrical hot and we looked and looked and my egg thermometer in my incubator is reading 102 I have one of the egg shaped internal temp ones in the center of the group. What is worse is the hygrometer/ thermometer at the outside of the group at egg level was reading 106.1 I’m now prepared to have lost the entire bunch I knew I shouldn’t have set them in this damn thing . I hate this analog dial it never seems to hold a steady enough temp. *sigh* I just want to I just lost $40 in eggs which I’m sure to some of you is nothing but for me right this minute that is a pretty big investment. It’s seriously a weeks pay.

And on the 40 bucks ya I think a lot of us are right with you this issue.

Look local, search Facebook for poultry groups in your area, Craigslist, and check your state thread on here. I have a fear of the shipped eggs, this is my first hatch so no experience really, just read to many horror stories. eBay has some but I really think the prices are nuts.

I’ve seen some eggs go for 40 dollars plus shipping on eBay.

You probably already wrote this, but what day are you on for your incubation?

I would just leave the humidity as it is right now and just let it go down by itself because I am unsure how to remove water from an incubator like that one without you losing heat in the process.

Do you like that incubator? It looks interesting and I want to get one that's similar. Right now I have 2 farm innovator 4250 incubators.

today is day 0 ( I set the eggs this morning.) Also, yes the incubator so far works great, it’s easy to maintain and the instructions are very clear. ( I know very little about incubators, this is my first one ever so I may be biased lol)
The humidity is down to 52% right now, I’m going to leave it be and see what happens

I am staring at SIX external pips on the 10 remaining eggs. Come on, little peeps. Humidity looks perfect, temp is holding. I haven't seen any progress on the wrong end pip but it's only been about 16 hours, so I'm not interfering.

Is it too soon to be planning my next hatch?

I am planning to set some eggs tomorrow or the next day. I have been running the incubator about a week to monitor the humidity and temperature. If the humidity is 45-50% during incubation, is it okay if the humidity is 57-63% during lockdown?

It's honestly part of the job of hatching... That's why I don't think people who won't cull a faulty chick should hatch... If a chick is suffering, you need to end it's suffering, it's not right to continue it on for longer than it needs just for your own selfish reasons.

They just asked about the chick so I sent a nice little email not detailing too much but focusing them on other chicks not the one that's suffering because it wasn't helped soon enough. Accidents happen, not everyone has an animal background like I do. I interned at a veterinary office for 3 years, he did mostly farm animals. I got to castrate bulls, pigs, and helped with surgeries. Very fun experience.

I have learned so much creating my own farm. It's been lots of tears and laughter.

The humidity is going to spike when they start externally pipping. I would go no higher than 60% because you do not want condensation in your incubator. When chicks start externally pipping and hatching they create their own humidity in the incubator, so if yours is too high it is going to create condensation.

Ok thank you. I'll candle them on day 12 or something. It's going to be so hard not peeking I can't wait to get them. I got a killer deal on them.

My marans eggs are at day 10. I candled at day 7 and could clearly see little embryos!
