May 2020 Hatch-A-Long

Pics
Who else has 9 hatches going at once

Some of the FC Assorted are just 2 eggs or up to 10. Only 2 clears in about 20-30 eggs :yesss:

And I don't own a ruler so don't mind my lopsided drunken lines 😂

I swear my ducks lay their eggs in the most disgusting places they can find 🤦🏼‍♀️ they're gross
Pretty sure the only reason my own ducks’ eggs stay relatively clean is because they’re locked up at night in their little house, with the goose, and she’s obsessive about mothering ALL the eggs. xD she steals them and adds them to her nest. I watched her on my webcam once, she stole the egg literally the moment it popped out of my silver appleyard. 🤦‍♀️

My ducks sleep outside they won't go in at night. I just let them do their thing. They do Kay eggs in the coop but they prefer to lay them in mud 😂

Treachery! Theft! While Moonshine was off her nest for her daily break, her leghorn sister got in. I took her out, she got back in. Well, I thought, maybe she'll be out before Moonshine returns, I'll grab her egg, and all will be well. But Moonshine DID return and was really upset, to say the least. I took the reluctant leghorn out (kicking and screaming) and Moonshine hopped in, and carefully inspected her clutch. No new eggs, all seems to be well.
Earlier, Trixie, the Spitzhauben pullet, had climbed in the big nest with Moonshine, (who is her 'mom, ') and laid an egg in there, which Moonshine accepted and tucked under. I removed it.

But now I see it's time to enclose the nest in a private apartment, like I did last year. There's an opening in one end, which leads to the area I am going to separate from the main coop. There's also a private door to the part of the run that will be closed off to the rest of the flock.
Moonshine's eggs are on day 9.
My incubator is on day 17---lockdown tomorrow!
