I keep getting internal pips. Nothing external yet

@FortCluck thats what I have seen too. When I looked today I definitely saw some internal pips so I know there are at least a couple in the process

Anyone want to guess if it’ll be a Black Copper or Blue?

That’s not my darkest maran eggs I’ll get a picture of that one and the green egg one.

@CluckNDoodle if a chick is born from a green egg... what are the chances it’ll lay green?

That's going to depend on the roosters genetics too. Sometimes even second generation Olive Eggers don't lay green.

I have for sure one internal pip. One that looks like it’s almost ready to internal pip. The other three look like they are almost in positio. But their air cells are already so far down the egg that it is hard to tell if it has drawndown yet. One I am fairly certain is DIS.

Day 20 I have 4 that hatched and 3 left to go for this batch.

Once again the CCL roo was with them the week leading up to setting the eggs and all the CCL eggs hatched female

Two external pips I guess I’ll be sticking with this local maran breeder because most are internally pipped. There was only 1 quitter and I broke an egg so 10 made it to lockdown.

I haven’t said much on this thread but my fist baby just hatched!! This is my first time incubating so feeling very relieved and happy!



editing to add that this egg was found in the yard on a cold morning the day before I set the eggs. I thought I’d throw it in the incubator too because why not!? it was the smallest egg too. Crazy how it’s our first baby!
