May 2021 Hatch - A - Long

Good morning question why does my temperature keep going up and then it goes down some. Humidity is steady at 69/70% no chicks yet

We need to know what incubator you are using, how many eggs are in it and on what day you are to even begin to answer.

In general, the closer you get to hatch day the temps will spike slightly as the activity of the chick will generate heat. When big hatcheries lockdown, they actually put them in large walk in hatchers that bring the temperature down as it can get high enough from just the chicks to kill them.

Very early on day 21 here. I have 4 eggs in the hatcher - One baby hatched on day 20, one hatched last night overnight, There is one pipping and one playing it cool and keeping everyone waiting :)

Woke up at 4.30am this morning so figured I might as well get up and have an early start into the office to "work" - Aka "get distracted by the incubator" LOL.

In other news - a local elderly couple are reluctantly down-sizing their little rural farmlet so I last night collected their four Guinea Fowl to rehome onto my place. Lovely wee birds - a little stressed last night after being caught - so they spent the night in my garage in a nice comfy cage. I consider them my "other new babies" for the week hehe :) They will get worm and lice treatments today and then popped into their new quarantine coop for a few days - then will start the staged releasing into my orchard :) The whole family are looking forward to having them around the house !! <3 <3

I have 8 eggs in the incubator right now
In that case, I know the problem. You need heat sinks. Something to fill up all of that empty space, and keep temperatures regulated. And example would be filling baby food jars with water, and putting them in with their lids on. Keeping the lids on keeps the humidity from going too high. You can also add clean rocks.

I think my hatch is mostly over now, I candled the remaining Swedish Flower eggs & don’t see any internal pips or movement. I had one pip and then die, and one that I assisted. The assisted hatch chick has curled toes on one foot, does anyone have a link to the instructions on how to make one of those boots for them out of bandaids?

Never mind, I think I got it figured out!
