These 2 will join the other chicks I hatched last Friday, when they are dried off and walking.

17 chicks hatched Sunday/Monday. I was hoping for more as I started with 44 eggs. This was my last hatch for this year. My breeding groups have been split up... the ladies get a break from the roosters. All in all I hatched 106 chicks.

I set eggs today, which also means they have a hatch date of June 1st or so. So I have started next months thread.

https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/june-2021-hatch-a-long.1466665/

I set 42 eggs. I also have 1 more egg to hatch this month and I have really come to hate broody eggs.

I pulled 2 FBCM eggs last night as according to my notes should have hatched, but when I did eggtopsies on them, they were at the same stage as the last egg. Which means I needlessly killed 2 FBCM as they were moving after I opened the ends of the eggs to the point one could not save them. It's a good thing these are my own eggs or I would be more than perturbed.

I knew it wasn’t just me. I am happy to say that the thing finally started to move just as I was getting ready to open it for real. I always go slow just in case, but this thing must have been dead asleep. It took a lot to get movement.

Day 18 on my Ancona duck eggs. I candled today & removed 9. Most stopped within the 1st 7 days & a couple between 8-18 days.

The other 15 are moving & the aircells are stable & are looking appropriately sized. There’s maybe a couple that are dipping deep in 1 side.

Hopefully they all make it to lockdown 🤞🏻 & not too many late deaths (those are the WORST!)

They all look grumpy lol 😂 what breed are these?
😂😂😂 Well, they had just come back from getting their Marek shot. I bet they were grumpy!!
They are Sulmtaler in wheaten but as of this year I also got them in white. They are really sweet birds... not grumpy at all.
