May 2021 Hatch - A - Long

I took my turner out yesterday and set the eggs up in the carton (upright turner=upright hatch) so will see how many days till they hatch

My eggs are on day 19. I had 2 eggs I set aside for a later hatch date than the day 19, but candled one if the eggs was already inside the air cell, so it went in with the day 19 eggs.

Of my 1st split of my hatch, 3 out of 5 hatched but one of the chick's was off so I culled that one. I have 2 good one's. All of those egg's were from out of my red NN girl that an Aloha rooster was over her.

My 2nd part of my split hatch is due on May 21st.

It's day 21, and the pip on the bottom of the egg in the middle

is moving in and out. It's a chick! OMG, NOW what do I do??? This is my first hatch!

Someone said that their chicks tried harder to hatch when they played a video of chicks chirping, so the laptop is next to the incubator playing a video of chicks chirping. So far, no answers from the incubator.

I did that on my first hatch, but I didn’t see it work very well I instead went out shopping and focused on buying stuff instead of on chicks hatching. I came home to an incubator full of little fluffies!

Chicken chicks and ducklings always take their sweet time. Quail pop out one after another, I think they have zero patience with the hatching process

I line up all my eggs in the hatcher so they are touching and "my experience" has been that you hear a lot more "clicking" or "talk" between eggs during the pipping/zipping stage. Also in "my experience" eggs lined up together like this often hatch together in a more condensed timeframe.

There hasn't been any more pipping or cracking of shells, but somebody was peeping inside an egg this morning!

Day 20 for my frizzle/NN eggs one pip, and I have one of my own eggs hatch.

I am going to move last weeks hatch to a brooder in a shed, yesterday the photo of my eggs got published in BYP magazine...Pg 26 June july 21
