May 2022 hatch along

4 peachicks total in this hatch, I think they're sold already. 3 whites and an India Blue Pied.

Day 20 here. 1 day left to go. Cleaning the coop. Filling feeders and waterers. Placing traps to try a final elimination of the rats before the babies come. I might have pulled a muscle placing them in the rafters.... I’ll probably go down to the coop around 1pm tomorrow and sit until late to keep an eye on her as a first time broody and make sure she doesn’t turn homicidal. If they haven’t hatched by about 10pm I’ll pack up and get some sleep and be back out there at sunrise.

My Silkie eggs are on day 18 today! First time with broody hens (2 of them), they keep swapping nests so I'm hoping the other broody stays on her eggs once these hatch. Their hatch date isn't until June 2. I also have my first broody duck, who has decided to lay under the nesting boxes in the chicken coop rather than in her own coop, but it's better than outside somewhere, where she tried first!! Where the heck am I going to put them all????

So I set 36. 34/36, Some are drying off, they are still in the house, but I gave 21 to the hen this morning (she did sleep on ten of those last night) the older ones of this batch.

She is a 1/2 bantam- I am surprised she can sit on so many, she is getting more even!
All chicks were black, or chipmunk, but one...
