The first egg has externally pipped this morning!

Sorry for such a late update on the 5 shipped serama eggs! It was a rough hatch but we ended up with 4 beautiful chicks. Here are the pictures. The 5 Call Duck eggs entered lockdown yesterday (Day 23) and I'm hopeful we will have some of those little ones too!

Here are my chicks about 4 days old, I gave mom and babies corn bread- the went bananas!

Here are some of my chicks, hatched May 9. We lost a couple so as of today we have 9. A fifth hen has now joined the broodies in taking care of the chicks so here are all 5 moms. The next set of eggs is due to hatch Wednesday, one of my hens is sitting on 7 Swedish Flower eggs.

Day 20 here and chicks have started hatching under the latest broody. I thought they were all Swedish Flower eggs so I was surprised to see that the first two hatched are yellow! Apparently some of my Buff Orpington’s eggs got in there, so these two would be half Swedish & half Orp.

My second May hatch is finished. The hen was sitting on 7 eggs and left the nest after 5 hatched. I threw the last 2 eggs in the incubator and one hatched! It’s a few days behind the other chicks but it’s working to catch up. So that makes 6 chicks for the hen. She is very active, scratching around and constantly calling the chicks to come here & there.
So that leaves me with a total of 15 chicks that hatched in May, all being raised by hens. I will try and get some pics later…

Likely because you placed the x on top where the air bubble naturally forms. That's their way out
