May 2022 hatch along

Pics
I did should be the final candle today day 16. Out of the 6 #3 and #5 showed good veining and growth. #4 has a damaged air cell (I’m assuming from the last rat attack) #7 looks like a clear and #1 and #2 are still impossible to see into though I’ll be surprised if #1 hatches since it was cold for so long. Everything smells safe so I’m going to leave them and not remove any just in case.

I’ve had some eventful couple of days! My first chick hatched by my broodies from my own flock happened late last week and the two broodies were fine sharing roles one with baby and the other with eggs. Well a day after baby hatched, I noticed they were leaving the eggs more and I got worried cuz I knew they were close to hatching. So I took the eggs and put them in my running incubator. Then yesterday, I hear a ruckus and look outside and find that my broody mommas are fighting. Like a real fight, pulling combs and wattles, flogging each other…and I got super worried they’d inadvertently crush the baby. So I decided that Polly…she was the instigator…was mad that Molly had a baby. So Polly went back to the chicken run/house. I’m even more glad I had removed the eggs before this fight 🙁

So anyway, my mixed babies are seriously the most adorable birds!! 😍 I have 5/7 that hatched. 2 lavenders (Ameraucana roo-English Orpington hen) and 3 blacks (Ameraucana roo-BCM marans hens).

And today my last set of d’Anver eggs finally hatched. So far I have 3, with one last egg that has pipped but yet to hatch. They appear to all be blue! I was hoping for black or cuckoo too 😩

SO tiny and adorable 🥰 3-4 of 18 eggs is still rather sucky though 😩

My last May eggs are another round of ODs, due 5/24. 🤞🏻

My 36 are in lockdown. (Below are the eggs but they are in a diff incubator now.

I set 36, (26 blue eggs and 9 tan eggs) All from a local farm, sold to our grocery store. 3 cartons 6.99 ea. They were in a turner/airfan LG. Now they are in a still air farm innovator. I did put the 9 tan eggs under a broody hen, I hope to give her all 36 when they hatch. (they are 1 day a part because I bought 1 carton, and then 2.) Set on a Mon. and a Tue. I just checked, rocking, peeping and one pip with the blue eggs.

I don't know how the chicks will look, but I did hatch these last year, all blue ones the chicks were black. They all hatched last year too.
