May 2023 Hatch-a-long

I agree with the sense part of it. But will still move forward without misting or purposefully cooling. So far day 8 and all 18 are developing nicely. I will be sure to let you all how it goes.

If you are about to have a baby you are right to just do it the hands off way! Definitely not a time you need any extra stress

Oh noooo, I was 100% sure I was done hatching until fall…then my favorite Bresse girl, Mozzarella, went broody. She’s been acting moody and broody for over a week, plucked her belly, the works. So, I gave her 7 eggs (5 from my GLW and 2 from my SLW) and I made her a bigger nest box from an old fruit crate. I won’t be disappointed if they don’t hatch, honestly. I have more than enough chicks as it is, but I want her to be a happy little dinosaur.

I imagine I’ll probably have to separate them from the main flock, if they even hatch, but we’ll see.

First batch of May hatchers went in today. 12 OEGB. Due sometime between the 2nd and the 4th.

I'll probably set some duck eggs next.

I'm officially IN for a May hatch. Set 42 barnyard mix eggs this morning at 6am. Running two small incubators, with 3 'extra' eggs stacked to replace any clears. I specifically chose this date and collected eggs for four days, so that I could time the hatch to coincide on or before the May "Flower" full moon on May 5th, Cinco de Mayo!

So pretty! I was going to wait a few days to set my chicken eggs but if today is the day to set for the full moon maybe I’ll go ahead and pop them in! But

FYI anyone who's setting eggs today or tomorrow: Listen up!

I just set 21 eggs. 9 are "mine" and 12 are another guys that I hatch for.
