May 2023 Hatch-a-long

Pics
Congratulations, they are lovely!

Was she ok with being lifted? We're approaching end of day 20 and I'm desperate to know if Moonsparkle has any chicks under her yet but I don't want to lift her. She did come down briefly yesterday and I heard several eggs cheeping!
i gently lift her and she seems okay. i have had her since a baby, and silkies are usually VERY broody- hard to break. not sure what yours is, but lifting to check for chicks should be A okay (at least always has been for me)

Butterfly is a lovely name! I love your system with the symbols. I assumed the chicks would keep their quirky names!
I’ll probably keep some of the symbols but butterfly is wayyy too cute. Now s/he is named Acorn :)

Newspaper is their under layer, I was changing out the towel on top.

Photo dump! 3 seramas and 1 silkie (mushroom symbol). Looking like a blue?

The other three silkies (Tulip, Feather, and Poison/Pirate) haven’t even pipped yet. I’m starting to get anxious but trying to sit on my hands. Mushroom was about 4.5 hours from Pip to hatch so fingers crossed the final three are Mother’s Day babies. They were all alive and moving 3 days ago.

I need help deciding what to do...
I thought I had lockdown part of my hatch planned ...but alas...I am wavering...

Hatch in egg cartons, or lay them down when I stop turning them on day 14???

What would you do...
Shipped eggs. Air cells look mostly ok (maybe a touch big but i have since upped the humidity) ... but I haven't rotated them any way besides little side down fat end up this entire time.

wwyd??

I've kept mine in the egg carton, but moved them to be on their sides, air cell up, at lockdown. I've done this the last two batches.

One more chick hatched, from one of the blue eggs! Looks like a Splash.

And it looks like the other blue egg (which is the last of this batch) has an internal pip! I need to check it again to make sure everything is okay. IF it hatches, that will mean all those that made it to lockdown hatched. I can't remember how many I set though, lol.

Day 13-14 here for my eggs! Will candle tonight, hopefully no more quitters although one looked suspicious last time. Started collecting eggs for the next batch yesterday. They can sit a week, right? Will rotate a few times a day.
I have used eggs a week or so old and they were fine. The ones I have in now are a week - 10 days old (from my hatch) since the person I am hatching for wants splash babies so could only put eggs aside when I could tell 100% that one of my splash girls laid them and I only have 2 splash girls so took a bit to get all the eggs. LOL Now can't tell you yet how that worked since for 1 I am only on day 2 (will be day 3 this afternoon) but even though their eggs are not dark at all they are extremely hard to see in! Like can barely make out the outline of the yolk..... LOL
