How long does it typically take from pip to zip to hatch? This is my first time incubating and I've got quite a few pipped and two that are starting to zip (they started pipping yesterday before 5 pm).
Last night I cooked eggs from the same hens and the shells seemed very hard compared to other eggs. Has me worried my chicks are trying to pip through concrete eggs.
7 silkies this morning with 2 more pipped 4 eggs just waiting. Today is the day pretty pleased with the way it's going from 15 shipped eggs it's great.
good morn! im on my 1st day of lockdown! im excited havnt heard anything yet but im hopin for pips in next cpl days congrats everyone go go chicky babies!
I am hatching rhode island reds and white leghorns in my classroom 12 of each. Yesterday the temperature went haywire and I thought I'd killed them all, but coming in this morning, I had one hatched and drying and 4 pips! I got to watch chick number 2 zip and hatch. It was pretty cool. Too bad my students weren't here at the time. 1 and 2 were both leghorns, the other pips are 2 leghorns and 1 rir. Keep me posted on your hatches too!
I'll add pics when they come out of the incubator.
