What happens when your chicks hatch so spread out? Is it still okay to leave them in because you are not supposed to open the bator?

When is the latest you will see the beginning development? We are on day 6/7 and just wondering since I have some that look clear. Out of the dozen assorted silkie eggs I only see 1 maybe 2 developing, when will I know the rest are duds??

I have 30 eggs incubating.......Easter Egger, Red Star, and Leghorn! It's day 8 and counting. This is my second time hatching eggs. I wish us all good luck! Can't wait for the PIPs!

I have good news! The egg I thought was dead wasn't!

I figured out he is just a few hours older than the rest. Now all the eggs look like that.

I went thru several candlings before getting a stronger light & now can see so much more movement, veins, eye, etc. earlier. But, the dark mass is the key thing to look for; seeing the rest is just more fun. If you haven't already, check out my candling technique on page one of this thread. Have fun!
