Put a mirror in with it, that's what I did, and my little Kevin settle right down, and now she is 6 weeks and still loves to see herself in the mirror!

ok.. I will do that now.. thanks. I feel so bad that the mom left it. Thanks for the idea.. I love it.

found a hovabator at a farm auction for 17 bucks. still air with no turner, oh well. added 27 of the last of my eggs( production red roo over 5 bared rock and 2 production red hens, ee roo over 3 ee, 3 slw, a bl aus and a buff orp).4/30/10 1130 pm mountain time. will be eazy to keep track of what day.

Due sunday-tuesday
I've got 5 white crested blue or black polish smooth or frizzles. crossing fingers for blue frizzles. one egg laid by my frizzle hen has the airsac on the wrong end. sigh. I think I've decided not to intervene but instead see what happens.
plus
5 buff or partridge silkies - which will be immediately up for sale as I have enough lovely fuzzballs right now.
6 mille fleur d'uccle
and one black copper maran egg that I suspect isn't fertile but is too dark to see through. It came from a lovely hen I bought from cree and I was hoping she might have a fertile egg or two left.

anyone here know what age maran cockerels and ameraucana cockerels usually get down to business? My ameraucana is about 6 months old and the maran is only 3.5 months.

I got my eggs from Speckledhen yesterday!
Set 14 Barred Rocks and 2 B/BS Orphingtons into the incubator at 7:15 am.....

I broke down and candled them on day 5 I checked 6 of the polish and they were all developing and I checked 4 of the wyandottes and i'm not sure but I think only one had veining but I'll know more about those at day 10

I'm already excited!

I took the baby back to the mama chicken this morning when I had time to watch them. She has turned into a very attentive mother. So I am going to hope for the best.

Well I am in. I have 42 eggs from Katy.
