MAY HATCH-A-LONG come join in

I try to keep mine between 60 to 70. Mine that are in lock down started off a little high 80% due date tomorrow humidity now 70% and I have pips now. I find the eggs are thirsty right before hatch and I've always had to work hard to get my humidity up to 70%....I go by the air sack to decide on what humidity but I live where it is dry lucky to have humidity of 35% even if it rains. I just hope this hatch goes together last time I had an early bird and I had to take him out and shrink wrapped the last one to hatch because it took 4 days for them to hatch.

Yikes! So is 80% too high?

So how do I bring it back down now?

Just checke on it and the temp is up to 102 F with the humidity to 81%. Should I take the plug off? It's a genesis 1588 and has been holding it's temp well at 99.5. Not sure what is going on. It is very hot and humid today.

Right now I have chicks hatching in a 1588 and the humidity reads 80% and they are all hatching fine. There is no condensation on the window. The past few hatches its been hard getting the humidity down. You can pull the plug if you want, but I havent had to since they are all hatching out fine.

I'm doing a dry hatch too. I stayed at 35 - 38% until lockdown (today) and now have bumped mine up to 65%. Your humidity will probably drop some on its own if you don't add any more water. Just keep an eye on your temp as the change in your humidity will cause your temp to change too. I actually had to bump my thermostat up when I raised my humidity because it dropped to about 99 for several hours. Now I'm sitting steady at 99.7

With my 1588 I keep the vent hole closed until they all hatch. With my 1602n I keep 1 open then open the second vent hole when they are all hatched. Both of my incubators have those small vent holes around the bottom.

Im hatching silkies now, so far 7 out of 13.

All are pipped.

The first 18 days I dont even add water, I just mist the eggs once in a while.

i had 42 eggs in a GQF hovabator with turner and fan. i have removed 4 and broke 1, so we have 37 left. i didn't know you were not supposed to put one by the egg turner motor, but it is candling fine and moved now to another spot vacated by a quitter. can't see into several of the blue EE/AA crosses, but no smell or weeping so i am leaving them alone.

i have 20 black javas, two GLWXjavas, 3 brown leghornXjavas, 4 EEXJavas, and 8 EExAAs left.

i have three thermometers in there, and they are vexing me. one is a mercury liquid thermometer (meant for measuring temp of beer during brewing, and more expensive than the others). i have been putting more faith in it.
the other two are the flat plastic freebie GQF sent with the bator, and a digital hygrometer/thermometer combo from wal-mart (acu-rite). the GQF freebie runs 2 degrees off (lower) than both my home thermostat AND the brewing thermometer. the hygrometer combo just stops at 95 degrees no matter what.

it's also off by 4% on humidity gauged by calibration, so i have a suspicion that is at least 4 degrees off (low) on temp.

given this situation, what would you do? which would you trust?
