MAY HATCH-A-LONG come join in

Good Morning Everyone,
A good thing happened last night. I passed out!
lau.gif
I hadn't really slept much since about day 15 and today is day 21. The good Lord put me in a deep sleep and I don't even remember dreaming. I do feel well rested, full of energy, not as stressed and with a clear mind. Wow, who knew sleep could do all that.

As for my status....One of my BCMs hatched last night while I slept and I don't know which on he is. Everybody, including this new hatchling are all fuzzy and oh so cute.

On a bad note, the two that started zipping then stopped are still in the same spot. No progress. They seem to both be alive from the little movement I can see in there, but don't seem to want to hatch out.

I do have a bunch of eggs that have not hatched out yet. I keep telling myself that the others actually hatched early because today is actually day 21, but the worry for them is still there. So I am still
fl.gif
everybody is fine and that I didn't shrink wrap anyone when I opened the bator yesterday. The one I opened the bator to save was one of the ones that died. 10 of them I honestly did not expect to hatch, but put them in just in case. These were mostly BCMs and a couple EEs that I could not see anything in.

So I am sitting here still waiting, but not as worried anymore. I am happy I have as much as I have (they are just soooo cute

) and will just

these next couple of days and

the Lord will give me more of them.

Now the ones that I have (lost count, but more than 11), should I leave them in there? I really don't want to open the bator that much or for too long to get them out. They are all completely fuzzy and I have everything I need to make their temporary brooder in my room. I was thinking maybe I could take one out every 1/2 an hour or so. If I do it really fast, it shouldn't change the humidity or temp in there that much for the unhatched eggs.

Or should I just sit on my hands and wait until tomorrow or Saturday?

Can someone help me here? Should I take this egg out and help it along? Every once in a while I see faint movement, but still no progress. It is only zipped halfway. Do you think it's stuck? What should I do?

Remember my Cochin that pipped on the bottom (at 2:30 am yesterday!) - it finally hatched at 10:00 pm last night. I thought it had died or stuck or both but stuck to my vow of not opening the incubator. It just all of a sudden started zipping again yesterday evening after doing nothing all day and is running around in the bator right now like a little monster. So there is hope that yours is just taking a break and gathering its strength. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

And thanks for crossing your fingers for mine. It just popped out.

The funny thing is this morning I peeked in and decided I would not spend as much time watching as I have been these last few days. It's fun, but so stressful. Well I couldn't helped myself and just peeked in.

He must have just did it because he is still sitting in the shell resting, but the top is completely off. Poor little guy, but

I am a proud mommy hen.

I have 10 fuzzy butts running around in the incubator right now.

There are only 4 unhatched eggs left and only one of them, the Brahma/Fav cross has pipped (just this morning). I'm going to leave mine in until the Brahma hatches since they have actually only been in the incubator 24 hours so far and I don't want to do anything to jeopardize the eggs that are left. I would be afraid that no matter how quickly you are in and out of the incubator, it will still cause the humidity to drop and shrink wrap the eggs you have left to hatch.

Yay for you!

I know just how relieved you feel. I just kept going off to the shop and working for a couple of hours to try to keep from worrying so much. My husband was actually surprised when he got home and I had gotten some work done.

Oh, and believe it or not, one of my other Cochin/Fav eggs pipped on the bottom early this morning! Cochins must be directionally challenged!
lau.gif
Anyway, I was able to flip it just like I did the other and it has hatched and is snoozing in the corner of the incubator now. Yay for duct tape and coat hangers!

I've decided that incubating requires nerves of steel.

I am joining the May hatch a long. I set mine yesterday.
I got 15 Mille Fleur cochin eggs that were shipped.
7 Mille Fleur chochins that are from my flock
and 11 Brown Red d'Uccle that are from my flock.
Fingers crossed.
And no, my pony hasn't foaled yet either, so we can add her to the May hatch along, lol.

Almost forgot, one broody Mille Fleur Cochin hen, I don't know how many eggs she has under her, due to hatch May 16.
