MAY HATCH-A-LONG come join in

OK....Finally counted. We have 13 surviving hatchlings. I decided to take 6 out because it was definitely crowded in there with 3 egg cartons and 13 chicks. There is one chicky that was all the way in the bottom of the pile, but fully dried. After putting him in the brooder we are noticing it's not walking. We tried standing it up and it flops back down immediately. It seems to be his left side. Do you think it had something to do with the rest running it over? Has anyone else ever had this happened. I'm wondering if he will survive.

It probably was born with something wrong with its leg/foot and that's why it was on the bottom of the pile. It isn't unusual for chicks to have leg/foot problems especially if you had problems with your bator. In my last hatch I had one that was born with a bum leg and a bum foot. It couldn't walk at all. It started to develop sores on its legs from dragging itself everywhere. I ended up having to put it down. I think I have one that looks like its toes are curled from this hatch. I left it in the bator a while longer then will try poly-vi-sol and splinting the toes with a band aid.

Ok I have nine eggs left in. Three of them are zipping. So, if they hatch that will give me a grand total of 56 chicks!

I'm not sure about one of them tho. I can see a lot of yolk. It even has a big blob of yolk stuck to its beak. Any suggestions as to if I should interviene or not? I had no idea how long it has been like that. It was in the back of the bator and zipped on the backside of the egg.

It's day 16. I had a temp spike last night. When I looked this morning it was up to 102.4 so I lowered the thermostat. It went down to 97, but is now staying between 98.6 and 100.2. I hope the chicks will be OK!!!!!!!!!!!!
