May hatch-a-long

Ooo pips going to kindergarten. Lucky kiddos.
I haven't hatched chickens on my own but for my ducks I hatched, all that hatched were set on the same day and still there was a 3, almost 4 days hatch window. My only mutt egg left hatched first and the next egg didn't hatch for more than 24 hours.

So we still only had the 2 pips when we arrived. The kids are very excited to see the eggs hatch. I think the teacher is excited they won't have to sit in thr classroom for 3 whole weeks. It was very funny watching all the kids "hey 2 have holes" and "when will they hatch?" I drew a lifecycle on the board for the kids, just hen egg chick, and an example of the hatch. Noise in the shell, a small hole, a bigger hole with cracks around the sides and finally a little chick with a broken egg. Hopefully they will get to see a few hatch

After school checkup. There are 7 pips of the 9 eggs the first 2 from this morning look like they were starting thier zips. So unfortunately the class will likely miss the first hatches but hopefully the others will wait for school to start tomorrow morning.
