May hatch-a-long

And an update!

Just candled (day 10), and all 13 of my eggs are showing good veins, good embryonic development, and some irate squirming to protest the light being turned on.

And back to turning without peeking for another week...
Good luck with that not peeking thing... Its hard for me to go just 3 or 4 days without candling. I just can't help it... I have no impulse control and I need NEED MUST!!!!! See what is happening in there!!!!!

Yeah... I didn't make it. Mostly because I realized I hadn't marked air cells, so I went through and did that!

Hi, I put some eggs in an incubator on May 6th.

Several are dark shell so I couldn't really see anything when I candled tonight. I do believe I see something moving though.

Five are lighter shells, and with those I can see veining and movement.

The final one is pictured below.

Is this egg one that needs culled?

This is my first time using an incubator so I would really appreciate some input from those with more experience.

Here is the other picture I took tonight. It is one of the darker shells but doesn't have the speckled.

I am seeing veining right?

Thanks so much.

So the first look to be not fertile. The second deffinatly has development.
In my opinion (and what I have done so far) with questionables ie some development possibly stopped, or hard to sees i move them in the bator so the goods are in one group and the questions are in another. This last time i had 1 question that was a darker blue green that i couldn't see anything more then some development at 7 and 14 days but at 18 i moved it back to good as it was noticeably still developing, it did hatcg with the others. I had another that was good with veins and all at 7 moved to questionable at 14 and discarded at 18. Anything that clear past day 7 gets tossed unless it's to dark to be sure. And anything without clear veins, our deffinatly stopped is usually tossed at 14 unless again to dark to see, some get held in question a little longer becuase they might have just recently stopped. The dark ones you just have to be patient with. But how you decide what to do is up to you. I have only just finished my second bator hatch and working on my second ever broody hatch, I haven't even candled her eggs she scares me.

so i tryed to move my broody last night but i moved her at dusk so she kept getting off i did not want to break her so i just let her get back on the nest
