May hatch-a-long

These were supposedly all lavender aruacana, bought as hatching eggs on ebay. I just loved that colour.
Given that I have I assume white, black and lavender they won't be bred from. I messaged the seller and he said he'd had a hatch do that too, said "they're throwing some colours" out of the hatches at the moment, so either these are not 100% pure or he mixed the eggs up!
Makes me suspicious that it's not lavender and maybe the blue gene instead. When breeding blues together you get 50% blue, 25% splash/white and 25% black. I'm not sure how the lavender gene works though

I would mark them at night. Question is she really broody? I have moved my broody hens off the nest and they get wright back on again.
i think she is broody shes being on the nest almost a week i took the eggs out from under her and put the marked eggs under her hoping everything goes well

Lavender (or self blue) breeds true. lav+lav=lav. Both bbs and lav disappear under domintnate white. But i don't think bbs effects the reds that same as lab does

Chick #2 arrived about 9 am! Looks to be blue where as #1 is black. Both are from English Blue Orpington plasters.

2 down, 16 more to go....

Decided to pull the duds two nights earlier than I'd planned. So the current tally is:

Eggs arrived 4/30 - 22, no visible cracks, dirty but well packaged.
Eggs set on the 5/1 - 22 in total.
1 egg culled on 5/6 - Rotten odor. Nearly invisible crack noticed in 1 egg, scotch taped.
1 egg culled on 5/9 - Failed development, possible bacteria inside like the rotten egg.
7 eggs culled on 5/9 - No development. Taped egg was one of these.
13 eggs remaining - good development, good veins.

Expecting hatch around the 20th/21st.

One of the eggs is about two thirds the size of the others. It's TINY. I was very surprised to see it developing, not sure it'll survive to hatch.
