May hatch-a-long

I have all bantams in this time around, which I usually do a mixture. But I've got some seramas, some golden seabrights, and mille fleur bantam Cochins. And the four duck eggs in the other bator are Welsh Harlequins! I really hope I get a couple female ducks from this hatch.

Chick #2 arrived about 9 am! Looks to be blue where as #1 is black. Both are from English Blue Orpington plasters.

Hi, my mallards are on day 11 or 12.

Do you have mallards already or will this be your first go with them?

Is anyone in here just getting started? I set 14 shipped eggs in my Hovabator on Wednesday. Excited to see how they turn out, but nervous because this is my first time hatching shipped eggs.

I set 19 buckeye and 15 chantecler on Sunday. I'm hoping the chanteclers do well. My 1st batch this year were all clear

ducks are cute and less maintenance than chickens but they are so messy.

And an update!

Just candled (day 10), and all 13 of my eggs are showing good veins, good embryonic development, and some irate squirming to protest the light being turned on.

And back to turning without peeking for another week...

yep, they are so cute when they are running up to you to, waddle waddle. I have geese so I still get the waddle just in bigger form. lol
