May Hatch-a-Long!

[5 Acre Rooster]

Have 2 Rouen ducklings out and in brooder. There are more to go, seems like they wanna wait awhile since they pip from start and the new pip are like 36 hours apart. Hoping they zip before I need to move MP and RIR eggs into lockdown.

hmm..might just be a thing with that one chick.

I do think you're right. It looks to me that the skin is healthy underneath, but some other chicks may have been pecking the feathers - this is added to by the fact that they're growing and little bare spots appear when their feathers can't keep up!

And, it isn't a Show Girl? Bare neck? The bare necks will get peely. I pick it off, and at times put a dab..very small dab of vaseline on them. Don't want too much, they get greasy feathers.

It's not a Show Girl. However, I have noticed that my Silkie feathered chicks do have more problems with the other chicks pecking at their fluffy wings. That may be it.

Go straight to ebay.com and change it from there, not from a link. They did have a security breach so you need to change your password. Just don't follow a link there.

I did. Changed my password this morning. They were hacked and are asking for users to change them.

Don't click through emails if it makes you nervous. Just go to ebay how you normally would, sign in and change your password from your account profile.

final count! of 32 to lockdown, 29 hatched and 3 died in shell near day 20-21. they were partially absorbed, 2 were malpositioned and couldnt get out but 1 did internally pip and never made it out...

overall I am very happy with how many I got! there are still a couple drying off in the smaller brooder, but here are some photos of almost everyone

Day 16 on the next batch. Only 6 eggs in that one!
after that I am getting some more eggs from a lady...

soon!!!









these are mostly mixed breeds! some BCMxWyandotte from my flock, they just look like BCM's mostly. the rest are primarily Lav Marans (dad) mixes, on BCMs and a few other breeds. I wish I knew what the blue ones were. and the red ones! any ideas? (blue with red head is a lav marans, but IDK what the pure blues are. feathered legs)

Sounds like you did very well with this hatch! After the next 6 hatch, how many more are you setting?

I have 42 chicks (incubator & hatchery combined) and I'm setting 4-5 more under the broody. I'd better not hatch any more.

Wow! Very nice hatch! Can you tell me what the yellow "shelf" is for? Also, is the red light a flourescent heat bulb? I've never seen a red bulb like that.
