Well, I candled last night, out of boredom .
Sooo. Riddle me this Bat man..
Most of my eggs were shipped from Mass.
.I am in Oregon.............no detatched air cells...........
31 were shipped and I started with 50 some. Never really finished counting but added some of my own double decking a bunch.
Finished with 44 last night...2 iffy's. They looked good even with my temp spike.
Really curious how these will finish out....Now have to figure out how on earth I am going to set the eggs for lockdown....
I always hatch in cartons but may have to lay them flat this time........

Morning Mel how are your chicks coming along ? Seen the post in the broody thread of lil Silkie mom takin care of business lol bators stable and all well I hope on that side

Good evening from Norway! I lost one more chick today, at 7 days old. I have no idea what happened, he just laid dead in the brooder all of the sudden. Oh well, **** happens - all the other little peeps are still doing good! Silkie hen is a lovely mom, but she refuses to take in new chicks. She beats them up if she gets the chance! Still a sweetheart towards her own peepers so I have no worries. They're starting to pick up some interesting patterns as their feathers starts to come along. I kinda find the mix accident chicks more exciting than the buffs, go figure

Do you know your temps and humidity?
Also................they do not always hatch on schedual..
If we knew a little more about whats going on, we might be able to help...............
Or they might just be a little late..........
My last hatch was due on a Friday and popped out Sunday morning.
My temperture had been running a little low.............
good luck

My mom said that the eggs' temperature didn't feel too hot, but I thought they were kinda warm. My hen won't let us anywhere near her eggs so we don't try and check all the rest.

We tried candling them, but I think the shell is too thick to see anything through. I know these are fertile eggs, though, since she's my rooster's favorite. I'm hoping they might still be able to hatch today.
