May Hatch Thread--Fill up those bators n' broodies!

i did the float test.. three floated and three went down. i open them and they were all fully diveloped but dead. what happen this is so bad. i hate to loose them what did i do wrong. need help, im having shipped eggs for tommorrow and i want them all to hatch. whats the humidity supposed to be before lock down may be thats the problem i only worried for lock down. the inner membrance was stuck to all six babies.

some one please educate me
i don't know what method of incubation you use ? but i my self incubate dry NO WATER for the first 18 days you can take the instructions that came with you incubator and use them to light your grill. At lock down NO more than 70% 65 is optimal candle your eggs the day of your set use a pencil to mark the air cell so you can monitor internal evaporation or weigh them i do both, make sure no matter how your eggs arrive weather you pick them up yourself at the breeder or they are shipped set them in cartons pointy end down in a cool dark place for 24 hrs not 22 not 25 24 hrs use at least three calibrated thermometers in different places in your incubator then take the readings from all three and average them this is you true temp, after you remove your turner if you use one THIS IS IMPORTANT adjust the temp in the bator to reflect the temp at egg level of the turner remember the turner is a full inch and a half higher than the floor of your bator by not doing this step your eggs at lock down will be a full two degrees cooler than they were in the turner this can be also done by using cut out foam cartons to hatch in i don't use this because i use a dedicated hatcher so my temps are set at floor level always if you have any questions on hatching in cartons post or pm jnjmaning for her method she hatches in cartons with good results with this said don't give up if at first you don't succeed try try again we all have had and will have again Failures no mater what kind of incubator you use if you follow a few simple fundamentals you will have success but the most important thing is to have fun and enjoy the hobby of giving and caring for the new life for which you have charge DISCLAIMER this is what works for me and has worked for many years this information is the culmination of personal experience and advice of others that hatch on a regular basis if followed you increase your hatch rates but i can not guarantee success

New Baby! Well, I guess s/he didn't need help! My first chick ever is out of the shell! I am twitterpated :) S/he is a Cream Legbar, so I will be able to sex it once it fluffs. One more egg has pipped, and the remaining 3 haven't done anything so far. Started with 21 eggs... Crossing my fingers for the remaining 4! As an aside, since this one hatched, I am getting a lot of condensation on the insides of my Brinsea mini. Should I be concerned? Not much I can do to dehumidify at this point without risking shrink-wrapping, but any ideas???
well congrats on your first chick its thrilling is it not ? have fun and good luck with the rest

I told myself the same thing EL, I had better hatches before I learned so much!!!!

well, the leghorn hatched!!
but... it has a little red thingy on her/his behind, what could it be??
it is really small, but noticeable
it is most likely a herniated navel if it is small it is survivable with a little care to inhibit infection if it is extreme you are better of to cull as soon as possible, post a pic im sure some one can help

Are you serious????? LOL There is not a dang thing going on here!
i dont know how these eggs are on time ? the should be at the least 12 to 23 hrs late i only bumped the incubator on the hour during the outage it would run down to 85 86 and i would turn the brooder off and bump it back to a 100 and unplug it i figured for sure they would be late go figure

Ok we are at 13!!!!! And the remaining 5 that I knew where alive at lock down have pipped!!! The 2 I thought quit late, seem to be just that...but I am ecstatic!!!! I had to help one that had zipped this morning. Apparently the crowd of babies rolled it over and the shell got crushed..idk, it looked odd, so we quickly rolled it and a big chunk of shell was off...so we watched it for a long time and it was kicking..so it should have been able to get the membranes off...so...as much as I thought I wouldn't, I carefully peeled a little off and it was like a spring! It almost jumped out of the shell and my hand!!!! It was way ready...No blood at all, but even tho the humidity is 65-67...it still appeared to be shrink wrapped..? Anyway, about 5 minutes later one zipped and hatched and my daughter got it recorded on her iPhone!!!

So...out of 31, if I get 18 it will be better than I ever thought!

Wait..what...how would one take care to inhibit infection? I have one the my boys...dh included, moved to the brooder while I was gone and it was bleeding. I wiped the bottom with a warm wet towel and it stopped...seems to be ok, but should I be doing more?!

2 pipped today, a day early. One I am worried about, it has pipped at the bottom not into his air cell. However I can clearly see its able to breathe as its beak is sometimes visible coming out of the hole, or at least appears to be its beak. I'm not even going to attempt to open the bator to get a better look but wanted to attach a picture and see what you all thought. Leave it or turn it very quickly?
It has been pipped at least 6hours and has made little to no progress but is peeping some and I can see it breathing.
any updates on the bottom pipper ?
