May I Pick, er, Peck Your Brains???

The theme for our Halloween party last night was zombies. I used agar agar and fruit juice to make vegetarian "Jello" and put it into a mold shaped like a brain. I had two for the party. One was barely touched and I gave it to the chickens this morning. After surrounding the plate for about 5 minutes to make sure that it wasn't going to hurt them, they wandered off. I had to sprinkle the brain with scratch to get them to try it. Once they got a taste, they dug right in. There was something surreal about watching your hens eating brains. The 10 of them ate all of it over about 3 hours.

Hi Birdlover (Ellen),

This was probably the best Halloween Party we have ever thrown. Almost everyone really got into the zombie spirit and judging the costumes for prizes was very difficult.

We projected the THRILLER video on our garage door and everyone joined in for the zombie dance with enthusiasm. It was great! We have many musicians among our friends and it was really neat when they were singing along.

DH's band, The Cousin John Band, was a big hit (cousinjohnband.com). The room full of dancing zombies was hysterical.

2BowieChicks came to the party. It turns out that she is a friend of a friend. I do not think I scared her away.....
