Hello, I was just wondering If I could use Commodity pellets as a feed for my chickens. As of right now I have laying mesh, and whole corn as their feed. They seem to be laying eggs very nicely. Chicks are very healthy, they love eating the crack corn. And yes I do let my flock free range all day.

The commodity pellets state that it can me used as multipurpose feed. I have browsed the internet and found that there are different types of commodity products made with different things, so I just really wanted to know if any one has experienced with this or know a bit about it. Thanks!

I recently got some as well. The cost was half as much as the commercial pellets. The incredients were very similar. I started using that as a supplement with their normal everyday feedings. I haven't seen a thread for this topic as of yet and I'm just as curious. Thanks!

I have no knowledge at all in regards to commodity pellets.

However, you should make sure the corn you feed is only used sparingly.

It is great as a treat and to train them to come when called.

But too much corn will make them quite fat, unhealthily so.

Looking at that link I wouldn't buy it.

I prefer something specifically formulated for the species that I am feeding.

So, what I feed cattle I wouldn't feed to my chickens or ducks.
