if she's still on the nest when she pecked you I would say she's broody.

well we will see what the next day brings. because today she sat on them for a say half of the day and never when back until tonight

update the first time i when out there to give fresh water she was in the nest about 6am
2nd time i when out there (7 am) to see what she would do which it was 30 minutes later she was out of the nest with the other chickens
i will keep updating to give you more info on what she is doing and it my help you out what i should do

hi there im a first timer raising chicks with the a hen

dose the hen know when to leave the nest box with her chicks to eat and drink as far as i know she has not left the nest sence they started to hatch and the chick had no food or water so far

will the cicks be ok if i leave them in the coop with mommy if the other hens are picking on the chicks
sorry all new to this
i would like them to stay there all because i have more broody hens in the coop
