Maybe some bactiria managed to get in your incubator. I dont know.

if it was the incubator it wouldn't have been just the one batch of eggs... i also had eggs from john farmer, mr heinz, luckypickens and... my brain fails me... not to mention a few dozen of my own eggs. and only that one person's (not mentioned above) were bad.

but even tho i had a wet hatch, i had at least 1 from each of the varieties hatched for me, so now we just

that they're girls. 8) i only wanted them for the egg colors mostly, and the boys will go to a swap.

The EE eggs I put under a broody hatched today. I saw 1 chick but about 3 crushed shells under her. I suppose they where hidden behind a wing. It's not easy to reach her where she's at. One set of quail eggs didn't hatch at all So alls that left is the last batch. I don't remember who they came from but some where packed in a plastic carton. So whoever sent me those, yours are next. With staggard hatched in all 3 bators i'm having to turn off the turners a few days then off again and I have to get the chicks out when they hatch because they're getting stuck in the egg cups so having to open the bators is making the hatch rate lower. I just took 6 stuck quail chicks of my own eggs out and there are more still to hatch. I don't even know how many I have now. I do know i'll be getting another brooder ready.

I just candled what was left from my swap eggs. All I can say this is the worst amount from shipped eggs I have ever had that have gone into lockdown. I received a total of 27 eggs. And out of those 27 eggs only 7 are in lockdown. Most of the eggs I received when I candled at like Day 10 had ruptured air cells. I had some quitters early on. But mostly ruptured air cells.

The 4 quail eggs I received, 2 have pipped and don't think the other 2 are doing anything. I will open up the other 2 after everyone has hatched.

Hoping all 7 hatch but at this point I'll be happy if 3 or 4 hatch.

Is everyone else having a bad time w/ there eggs?

I'm curious to the people I sent eggs to how my eggs are doing.

I got ZERO from one swap out of 14.
And I have 4 of 8 developing from my 2nd batch....

The past few swaps have been bad luck for me too. I've been getting numbers like 2/24, 2/8, 0/12, 0/8.

Yes they have ( Which is why I have not been ordering any from anyone....for now.
I have three of 18 Quail that look like they might hatch. I have all of the ones from Marie developing, but she lives just over the hill from me (per say). No idea about the last ones, they are under a broody, and I just got them recently.

Some of mine started oozing brown, yucky goop.... Although I think it had alot to do with bacteria in our styrofoam incubators. DH made us a new incubator out of a dorm refrigerator, an old pc fan & the heating element out of one of the Little Giant incubators. What an awesome change! Our eggs are doing 100% better!
So, hopefully our hatch rate for next month's swap goes up.

One bunch of eggs did develop but didn't hatch. Not even a peep. I got some that where damp and had what looked like mold on them. I wiped them with a dry paper towel and set them anyway. I started to smell something stinky and found 5 stinky ones then a few days later one exploded in the bator. Apparently I missed one. They aren't due till this week so I'll see what happens with those. The first batch I got about 25 chicks from that one. Those are all cortunix eggs. I had 1 bator full of eggs so I was sent plenty extras. I actually had less hatch from my own quail eggs than from shipped eggs. The side swaps I did I gave some EE eggs to a broody orp hen and she hatched out 2 chicks out of 6 eggs today. I'm leaving the other 4 incase they're late bloomers. I have the other EE eggs in the bator. They're due soon and the rest are guinea eggs not due yet.

Sorry to hear that. Those eggs were really fresh and I sent 2 other people 18 each also the same day. One was a side swap and I included 5 turkey eggs in hers as well. Im in KY and hers went all the way to Cali. She emailed me yesterday to say 12 quail eggs made it to lock down and a couple others were iffy. 4 of the 5 turkey eggs are also on track. Please let me know what hatches. Im not sure Im participating in the june swap yet but feel bad the PO was so rough on your eggs. I tried to pack well. If u would like more my birds r assorted colors and can maybe work somthing out with u to get u some more. Just PM me if your interested. The other set went to GAHilbilies or somthing like that and I never even got a response back to tell me they even got them or how they arrived. If u dont mind I would still like to see a pic of what does hatch but 3 out of 18 is just a shame.
