It did thaw this week. Now the state is flooding! Southwest Washington is now isolated from much of the rest of the state with the Interstate and state highways underwater. Maybe it's time to get the kayak out.

I may get mail/packages if its routed through Portland, but not if it's routed through Seattle!

I talked to the lady who's web site it is and she said not all breeds were sold out and to contact her for info.... PM or E-mail her to see if she has anything your looking for !!

I'll ask a few more people on here from WA if they have anything !!

I'll send yah some BR eggs if you want to risk it with the weather !!

I have been telling that I was going to do that.And last night I put a few in the bator and believe it or not ,they are fertile.I cracked some tonight and all was fertile.So I was very happy to see that we may have some Piggly Wiggly brown eggs hatch into chicks.So I will keep you informed. even if a local store sold a fresh and fertile egg, seems to me they would have been refrigerated long enough to have ended any chance of viability.

Our local feed store sells eggs from thier counter top, and they are fertile, with the name of the breed written on top. you can eat or hatch em.

Have you checked your feed stores?

I dont know if this is near you !! There are a few adds on craigslist.com in WA (but like I said I dont know what towns you are near) I searched "hatching eggs"

If i had this much trouble I'd drive to the country, pull over roll down the window and listen for a rooster! Echo locate yourself some fertile eggs!

But seriously maybe you could find a website listing the names of the farms that supply the farmers market and go pick some up...or contact 4-H poultry group or find a grocery co-op...
It shouldn't be so hard

I know this won't help locate a WA source, but I am in the process of trying the same thing with my daughter as part of a science experiment. We want babies chicks anyway, so we figured this would be a neat way to try before taking a chance on more expensive eggs from a breeder. She just finished building the incubator this week. She is still testing it to make sure the humidity and temp stay consistent. I found white fertile eggs at Trader Joe's sold under their own label. We also found brown fertile eggs from NutriFresh by Chino Valley Ranchers at a local natural grocery store called Sprouts in the Rossmor / Seal Beach area. I am hoping those are from RIR, but I don't know. I went searching around yesterday for more info on their hens, but could not find any thing other than their website that didn't mention breed and a site that mentioned they did something to their hens called forced molting. Ugh.

Thank you for your info Nathan on the Hy line breed. That is the most help I have found so far. We are going to try putting them in this weekend.

I haven't had need to travel to Seattle, so I am not affected by the floods, but there are some communities that are islands or lakes. The seasonal "crick" at the back of my yard tends to overflow its bounds, but it is lower than the house and the beavers love it.

robbdogr, Look toward the back of the shelf for the earliest packaging date. I have a daughter too, and this is a great science experiment and a great idea for practice.

Echo locate yourself some fertile eggs!

This almost worked. I heard a rooster from my daughter's bus stop. Down the street is this flock of beautiful white birds that might be Delawares. I didn't think they had a rooster, but I saw a bird twice as big as the hen it was next to, with more pronounced comb. I knocked the door, but they didn't have any eggs for sale, so either their hens aren't laying or they don't trust me.

The reasons why I haven't been successful finding eggs may not be all that mysterious. According to the feed store, it is fairly common that hens are not laying with the cold and clouds and short days of late. They are suggesting I post to their bulletin board and I will.

I'll probably be succcessful in finding the breeds I want; I'll just have to be more patient than I have been.​
