So I have never had a chicken of any kind before, but this summer I am getting some and I kinda want to start at the incubation stage, as in hatch it and stuff. Do you think this is a good idea for a beginner? What do I need to do this?

It's always interesting to hatch eggs for the first time. Some will hatch and some might not. There is really nothing to hatching eggs as long as you have a good incubator and the right temp. and humidity. I would say go for it. But do try to get some from a local farm or a hatchery that is closer to you, that way the eggs don't have to travel too far and you might have a better chance of more eggs hatching.

As long as you are willing to do a lot of reading to educate yourself on the process, it's a good way to start. I started my flock last spring by building an incubator. (My husband was the brains regarding the electrical). I then hatched a few eggs, and added some hatchery birds. I have my second hatch going in the home made incubator now. One word of advice. Hatching is addicting.

Haha thanks everyone! I will do a ton of research and post when I decide which I'm doing (:
