Mental strengths and weaknesses (aka type) don't transmit as a whole unit. It's more complicated. Functions are passed down and with the typical lottery system of other inheritance.
So grandparents matter too.

It has more to do with not taking MbTI seriously, because it's not a serious assessment of personality. Boyle wrote a paper on it in the 90's. The last line of the introduction wasI understand why that would make it confusing.
But one must channel a proper Vulcan and separate emotion from the critical data.

It's probably more accurate than astrology, but it's not highly regarded by any credible psychologist. MBTI is a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy in many cases.
HR people use it to help troubleshoot conflicts in the workplace by identifying common ground, but that's about as far as I'd go with it.
