Mcmurray Ameraucana/EE gender?

So I ordered 1 male and 2 females and they just turned 2 weeks old. Is it possible to sex them based on day old coloring? We have 1 brown(Ivy), 1 chipmunk striped(Sage) and 1 with a broken chipmunk striping(Rex). I assumed the one with the broken stripe was the male. Unfortunately Rex has now developed a slight scissor beak. If Rex is a female, we may keep her if it doesn't get to much worse, but we don't want to breed a male with scissor beak. Any ideas on who is the male?

My EE cockerel had the same color as Sage. I'm not saying that means Sage is definitely a boy though. You'll have to wait until they are 6-8 weeks old to tell the genders.

Thanks! Sage was our second choice for the boy. I am hoping that is the case!

Did one come with a leg band or a colored dot on its head? They usually mark them somehow or write on the box. You should contact McMurray about the scissor beak anyway, so they may be able to tell you.

Hmmm, none of them were marked, so I assumed McMurray didn't do that. And yes, we will be contacting them about the scissor beak.

No. By 4-6 weeks the combs should tell the tale.
And they are likely Easter Eggers, not Ameraucana.

Thanks, I had read somewhere that the broken stripe ment male, but wasn't sure if that also applied to EE. Rex's comb is a tiny bit larger than the other 2, but hopefully that doesn't mean anything at this age either.

You know though, they are the only "big" hatchery I know of (besides Cackle) that sells Lavender Ameraucanas and has the correct info on their site regarding those mixed color ones. They are roundish puffballs more like purebreds rather than EEs, and those legs all look like they'll be slate. I haven't met a commercial EE yet with slate legs (of course, I have seen a couple that looked slate until one day they turned greeeen!)

Ivy and Sage are girls who lay beautiful blue-green eggs
Sadly, Rex was the boy and had to be culled. His scissor beak became too severe for him too eat enough and he started to lose weight. Picture is one of his last, the rest of the flock had a section of watermelon for a treat, but he couldn't eat it off the rind so I pureed some for just for him
