Good Point! I will call in the morning. I would not cancel the order. Stormhorse23, NOT everyone that has received chicks is having problems. There has been many people post on this site that they received chicks and have had no problems.
but why risk it?
Because it could just as easily happen to an other hatchery. MM has always been great, perhaps that is why they have been around since 1917. I know they are aware of the problem, they have to be and I guarantee you they are working thier butts off getting it fixed but are doing so in a manner as not to create hysterics. A company's Reputation is everything and if they can fix it with out a lot of hoopla they will. Trust me I have my own company and when something goes wrong here (which occasionally it does because we are human and NOT perfect) we do our best to fix it with as few people knowing as possible, it is the best way to handle the situation IMO. AND as I said before NOT everyone is havening problems.

Yep! Ordering chicks is always a risk, so should we just not order chicks?
Thank you OEGBman, my point exactly! I am tired of all this drama around MM hatchery on this board. If you are scared to order or have concerns about you order then deal with them, they are the ones with your chicks, NOT US! I for one am not canceling my order with them.
I just stopped into my TSC tonight to look at chicks, but their delivery is not due in until Thursday. I have no idea which hatchery they order from, but I'm real nervous about buying chicks now. Because when it comes down to it, this could be happening to any hatchery. I haven't been on the board in a few weeks since I've been busy, but I'm glad I stopped in tonight.
Our local feed store orders thru MM and the 6 I have right now couldn't be in better shape. They are 17 days old and have never had an ounce of problems. I'm expecting the rest of my order to come in this week and don't expect any problems with them either. We have ordered thru MM for the last 2 years and I know the feed store as ordered thru them for YEARS and have nothing but good things to say about MM.
And you are right, any hatchery could have problems.
I spoke with MM this morning. They do not have an factual diagnosis yet. They are working on it.
I have purchased from them forever and will continue to do so. I have another order coming and I am not going to cancel it. Personally, I am getting ready for some major price hikes in everything. If I can buy it now, I will. I am not waiting for prices to go up and items to become scarce.
I just paid to have my diesel farm tank filled. SHOCK!!! My costs are going to have to be passed on to my customers and it is sad. People are getting ready for hard times. I have a waiting list for cows and heifers that can be family milk cows. I expect it to be the same way with chickens, eggs, milk, meat and more.
