I agree MM's prices are good and their shippign is fast but the quality of their brids isn't not very good at all. My birds were true to color only, their size and confirmation was way off and my friends EE's looked total mutts, only half laid colored eggs.

I will pay more for better stock.

I don't see posting 3 x to tell different things about the new chicks as "bumping." It doesn't look like it was done to bump the thread, but to add more facts about the chicks.

The "same thing" was not posted several times.

I can understand because I was just as excited when mine came. My poor husband could hardly get anything done at work for all the excited text messages I sent to him!

Folks, when you see what you think is a rule violation, please hit the report button and allow the staff to assess the situation. Thanks so much.

There are different types of posts, some of which are like a running journal, for example, a hatching journal thread. We do not always consider adding information as "bumping", per se.

For the record, I personally was not offended in the slightest with her three very excited posts about her chicks and wanting to share with her chicken friends...that's what we are here for to share in these glorious experiences and life long chicken adventures.

I can't wait for you to post more photos!!! I wanna see more of these cuties and of the extra chicks that got tossed in.

Me too! I want close ups of the extras they put in so I can see what you got. We were thinking of placing another order with the same hatchery and haven't made our minds up for certain yet. I have 2 or 3 hatcheries bookmarked on my computer and am trying to make my mind up...

Sorry about the bumps. I wasn't aware that was frowned on. The last post was pretty much a bump but I did want to share the silly behavior of my newbies.

Other than that, I was trying to add information in separate posts to keep it more readable. I know I usually tend to skim over long posts when I am reading a thread because they get... well... long... anyway...

As far as McM, I know they are pretty up front in their description of their EE's that they will not all lay colored eggs, and that their conformation is not to standards. I know there are cheaper places and places that specialize in more show-quality birds, but I like their service and their website, so that makes them worth it to me.

As I said, I've always been very pleased with the birds I've bought from them, but I do not care if their conformation is perfect. I am a fancier of the more old school breeds such as the ones I purchased, so I can't attest to the quality of their more exotic or unusual breeds.

EDIT TO ADD: My chickies are at my friends' house, as I can't currently keep them where I live. I will not be going to see them again today unless there is a problem, but I will try to bring a better camera and get more pics tomorrow.

We got Australorps from them and they were healthy chicks! I don't know or care if they are show quality. We plan to eat their eggs and raise them as pets--that's it! So if there are any small flaws that would make them less than show quality, I honestly don't care. We don't even plan to hatch eggs from them at this point.

I'm the same way...if it's not in separate posts or at the very least different paragraphs, SKIP SKIP SKIP...

reading online has been proven in studies to be a 'skimming' process and that majority of people process online info thru skimming and not reading word for word. So short and sweet is best (which is hard for me, a wordy one!)

Looking forward to those pics!!!
