I ordered a few blr from them last year. The roosters make great meat birds pretty big boys, I had a rat problem when they were young and they ate the only 2 females I had out so I didn't get a chance to see the females grow... There lacing isn't great, some are better then others and I even had one with a single comb so the quality wasn't great but they are nice friendly breed.

i know not to expect show quality. i just want some nice lookin egg layers. the white jersey giants just caught my interest. this is my first time ordering from a hatchery.

I have had great success with McMurray - I have a bunch of different breeds from them and they always arrive healthy and good to go. All have layed as they were supposed to as well. I really think most of hatcheries have to be good and reputable or they wouldn't be around long. I chose them due to their location - Iowa - I'm in Kansas and I wanted my chicks to have a short transit.

I have had good luck with them in the past. They have a lot of colorful birds to choose from. Everything I've ordered from them has thrived and laid well. Although I don't order from hatcheries any more, if I were to in the future it would be from McMurray or Ideal Poultry.

I got 3 different breeds of chiockens from them and didn't like the quality of any of them.Wouldn't order from them again.

I agree I ordered 5 breeds of chickens and got the daily hatch mystery chicks! I also would not order from them again. 26 Mutts is more than enough for me. I am starting over at a great loss. Found out that they get their eggs from other farms so they really don't control breeding they just hatch whatever egg they get and toss everything in one box and your left guessing.

I suggest http://thepoultryhatchery.com. If needed they will spend hours on the phone with you and they can mark your chicks by breed so you know when they arrive what you have plus their prices are better and right now if you buy 5 you get one of the same type for free. McMurrays can't even come close. given your order size you could have received 5 free chicks of known breeds and they could of been hens instead of McMurrays Roo surplus. If it's not to late feel free to call this other hatchery and by the time you hang up you will be canceling your other order!

Anyone ordering from a hatchery should understand that the hatchery is in it for the money. If the birds somewhat resemble the breed and lay a lot of eggs then that is what they are going to sell. If you want quality birds then you should find a reputable breeder and order from them.
