Mcmurray

I have ordered from them about every 5 years for the past 25 to 30 years. I have averaged one lost chick each time, and they have been happy, healthy productive birds for me. I always get the brown egg layer assortment just because i like to see the different breeds. Are they back yard quality, not show birds......yes, of course they are. But I could recommend their customer service and chicks without hesitation.

I ordered from them years ago and was very happy with the chicks I recieved. I had a few deaths out of 25 chicks in the first couple weeks. Now, though, I usually just buy chickens off craigslist and I bought my first hen off of BYC last week

I've ordered from them once, my first order and experience with chickens. They were healthy and lively and I only lost 1. Went to a local hatchery last year Mt. Healthy hatchery and I was pretty happy with them. Didn't loose any, but we picked them up. I ordered more from MM this year and expect a good shipment. I like MM because of the variety they have.

I got my chicks from MMcM last year. They arrived healthy and I did not lose any. I did have one problem. I ordered one Delaware Rooster. They sent two Delaware roosters that turned out to be this....

not Delaware's.

Overall, I can't really complain. They are not the most beautiful chickens but they are good layers.

Good luck with your decision.

I know this is an old thread but. I am soooo convinced now. You are correct as I didn't ask for a rooster, didn't ask for a free EXOTIC. But nothing is ever free. I read earlier about the Animal Control not having the knowledge to sex a hen when neighbors complained about the crowing. But I believe a hatchery with 100 years? of experience could hire and train qualified people to sex their chickens

Vent sexing is a true art, not a science. Folks go to school to learn it and it's not always clear which sex a chick is, either, so that is why the sexing mistakes are made.

I ordered 34 chicks (black giants, barred rocks, and partridge cochins) from MM this summer for a June 18 arrival. I ordered 34 thinking I'd lose a few, which I consider completely expected. My babies are a little over 3 weeks old now and I've not lost a single one even during this oppressive Oklahoma heat. I wouldn't hesitate to order from MM in the future.
