McMurray's White Laced Red Cornish-Standards

Thanks Bob. I know they are going to be harder to locate a good breeder than the Dark Cornish I am also looking to build a good flock of. They are well worth looking or working out the kink from hatchery birds if I have too.
Thanks for the input, I appreciate your experience on all of these bird issues.
Have a great day.

I honestly would not even think of using hatchery White Laced Red Cornish. Why not use bantam birds and breed up to standard if you cannot find largefowl. Here are some links that I found that you could possibly use in your search:

If nothing else, you can use these as a stepping stone in order to track down largefowl. Contact them, more than likely they have information regarding breeders that have largefowl as well.

WLR are very rare in LF but are a little more common in bantams. I would like to bring up that if you truly wanting LF SQ Cornish, you better be prepared to AI them. Seems most of the breeders of the quality LF or bantams are using AI to get that extreme look that SQ Cornish have. To me there is large disparity between what SQ Cornish and Production Cornish are. I love Cornish and raised them over the years but I am not personally a fan of the big SQ Cornish that dont look like they can do anything but stand there like a tree stump....

No I am not trying to stir up anything or anyone here either. Just my opinion and you know what those are like.......

As many folks know I am the ultimate Hatchery hater LOL. It just seems to me that people want decent quality birds but always seem to still settle for terrible quality hatchery stock. It's too bad your having trouble finding some non-hatchery WLR Cornish, but I can assure you with just a small amount of searching you could easily get a breeders culls or hatching egg's that will most definitly be head over heals above any hatchery stock. Please continue your search you won't be disappointed, but I strongly disscourage going to MM or any other Hatchery for that matter. This breed needs good dedicated breeders and encouraging Hatchery buy's will only deepen the problem.

You having such nice WLR Cornish, I'd think you would be an excellent source or at least point us in the right direction?

Al, I thought you were just raising Whites?
I have looked at people's comments, but I have also thought about getting some hatchery stock and crossing some Aseel back in to clean them up. As far as coloring and width and depth in aspects other than breast, my MM DCs birds were not that bad. I had some (DCs) decent hens that came from Welp last year too. No, they are not show quality, but they could be workable in time I can see all the ways they have been bred away from the standard, but if standard was bred out, it can be bred back in time. Don't you think?
I know that no matter which way I go that I am going to have work ahead. With limited numbers of breeders of the LF, I will also be looking at limited breeding lines.
And in regards to AI, I cannot see myself doing AI on my chickens. Perhaps I am going to be chopping off my metaphorical foot by not wanting to go that direction, but we will see.
At least with the LF Cornish, if things don't go great, they still make good eating.
And if I need to get those legs looking more stumpy, I could breed in some of that lovely GaDong Tao.

I appreciate everyone's input, thanks.

Check this link and scroll down to the third pic for a picture of a McM bred WLRC and be your own judge : http://www.feathersite.com/Poultry/CGA/Cornish/BRKCornish.html

I've
got some WLRCs from Schlechts that are as disappointing as I expected , though better than some I've seen pictured . I purchased two DC cockerals from a breeder ; pictured here at just under 6 & 7 months , younger first .
