I have been dealing with McMurray for over 2 decades now and although I could find a cheaper hatchery, I find they are knowledgeable and better able to provide you with the chicks you want, the date you want them.
I like their catalogs and web-site. I find they have good descriptions and write-ups on each breed. I can only complain about 2 things. One is that the Araucana/Americana........I feel the word Araucana shouldn't even be used. If its not tufted, rumpless and lays blue (not green or rose colored) then its not an Araucana and shouldn't be represented as one. And 2.......there is a certain very large producer that anyone would do very good to have ( silver-spangled hamburg ).....that is if you can find the eggs. ( in other words, they would be good as confined chickens ).
But for the most part, I find the company is a very good one and has a knowledgeable staff. They also keep their word. They sent me the wrong birds once. I got Jumbo X Cornish instead of Pearl White Leghorns. Within 3 weeks the chicks passed up some older chicks I had and I called inquiring about it and they realized what happened and apologized and sent me the correct order the next hatch and I got to keep the broilers as a bonus. They were only sorry I would have to spend so much in feed....really I more than made up for it in chicken meat.
