MD - Wheaten/Blue Wheaten Ameracauna eggs

I got it Henry (My dog account IS normal LOL) I wrote you a long email back but then the pc froze and lost it.... wrote again this morning.

As for the clubs. I have belonged to dog show and dog performance clubs for 20 years... they are full of mean women who never had kids or husbands or a life outside of their dogs. 2008 is the first year that I have not competed with my dogs.... the politics just got to me. When ya get to the top levels of competition I learned the hard way that it is very lonely at the top.... everyone is out to beat ya. Next month the Westminster dog show is on again. I know the judge and have a great chance of doing extremely well with my beautiful male dog "Atom".... but I just dont feel like going, or spending the $$.

What about a Blue and a Blue wheaten? If blues are black based and blue wheatens are blue based would we get 1/2 blue and 1/2 black and no wheaten?? I think I need a bigger punnett square.

What about Lavenders??

If your birds are standard size, not Bantam.

Please add me to your list...probably a long list by now. Could you please PM me with costs. Since I do not have normal electricity, I am waiting for a broody hen. Pepper is starting to show broody signs. Last year she was broody in February. She can probably tend to about 20 eggs. 2009 is for the real Ameraucana's (not EE's) and for Araucana's.

One question: How does the size of egg compare? Araucana's appear to have a smaller size egg, even the standard size birds, in comparrison to an Easter Egger. Or a Leghorn.

Will be interest in your Ex Leghorn after I master my incubator. Any other color of leghorn at your house?

My birds are pets, and I admit, I am learning. Started in 2007, and thanks to Jean I now spell Ameraucana correctly....that was a joke....
So I perfected my Easter Eggers in vain, oh well. I still like them. Why the hatcheries sell Easter Eggers under Ameraucana or Araucana, is beyond me.

Egg color, pets, and if my little desert town kicks up the 4H club, I will give the kids eggs to hatch....it will be good for them.

Thanks for offering your Real Ameraucana's!

Hmm...so we know Jean has them, you-peachick has them, Cottage Rose has them....who else?? Might not be a bad idea to get the eggs from more than one person.

Thanks again.

egg size Id' say is medium to large.

My exchequers are back from molt and looking just stunning!! I was admiring them a bit yesterday The older roo has just a beautiful tail (at 2 years old). the girls have all lightened up after molt and their combs flop over now... took a while for them to bend over. I need to get new photos of them to show em off. will probably be seperating them soon for collecting eggs....

earlier on this thread the ladies were talking about egg production. the leghorns laid SO MUCH over the summer I swear the girls were laying 2 eggs each per day! But once they molted they havent given me an egg in MONTHS!

Can someone describe, or post pictures, of the difference between a wheaton hen and a blue wheaton hen? Thanks.

I just recently read some pretty good posts on the ABC Forum with regard to crossing Blacks or Blues with Wheatens or Blue Wheatens. Might want to check it out. There's also some discussion on Lavenders there too.

God Bless,
