Just got home off a run to Colorado and New Mexico and sat down on the front porch with Looner. Reached over and picked up a fresh-fallen pecan, shelled it and immediately had the dogger calling dibs. Turns out that there are quite a few pecans laying around with dog molar chomps on them and bits of the meat gone, and I'm pretty sure the dog knows exactly how it happened.

Loonie McToonie acts like an addict when she hears the shell pop and waits, drooling, for me to extract the meats.

Pecans are pretty toxic in dogs & horses. It can cause liver failure and some other big issues.

I would really avoid feeding them on purpose.

Wow! Thanks for that! She only had a little and it's one more thing I have to keep an eye on with her. She also likes a high in fresh chicken.
