First year with 3 Rhode Island Reds, and 3 Plymoth Rock. Built them a 'Frickin Chicken Tase Mahaul' with 5 nesting boxes. (Bilt to HUD standards, just missing the plumbing). 140 sqr foot pen, 1/2 cup feed each per day, plus vegie scraps from the kithen. Lets see if they live for in a year, the maybe more.

I don't think you can calculate what they need to eat daily. If they get to free range they probably won't need much chick feed. Conversely if they are stuck in a run all day they would need more feed. If the food disappears fast, give them more. I don't believe chickens will overeat unless they are meat birds. Their needs also vary if they are going through a hard molt, or are heavy laying breeds.

I agree with the Diva. They won't over eat. I would spend all day measuring if I tried to ration it out. I just keep the feeder full.

You chose very active outgoing breeds. They will be quite entertaining to watch.

Welcome to a great community of kind and helpful folks.
