Hi all,

I received my order last week. I had signed up for the free meal chick program they have which means that they send one free chick of whatever they choose to send. It can be anything. My question is this... They are a week old and I had assumed that the free chick was another australorp because it looked exactly like the other one I ordered. But, It has black wings now with white all along the edges of the wings. So with the white I am doubting it is an australorp. Do baby australorp chicks have white on their wings? Sorry if this is the wrong venue to post this question, I couldn't decide which was correct. Thanks.

I'd like to know too as my week old (tomorrow) Australorp has white on her wings as well. It looks as if there are white feathers. I haven't looked super close but will check that out tonight.

Interesting. Yes the one that is clearly an australorp is all black on her wings. But the meal chick is black on the majority but white on all of the edges. And when she stretches her wings out they show all white on the back side.

All my Australorp chicks had bits of white on them here and there as chicks, and grew up to be all black. I don't recall one having all white on the underside of the wing, though.

My 3 week old Austrolorp has a bit of white in her wings right now, too. I assume she will feather out as an adult to all black.
