Mealworm farming

Quote:
It is all relative to 'temperature' .... the higher the constant temp, the quicker they develop. I keep mine at 69-72 and it takes at least 2 weeks from pupae to beetle. If you want to slow the colony down, put them in a cooler location. Speed them up...put them in a warm location. All about temperature.

Makes perfect sense. Our house is about 71-72 but they are on the floor so it may be a bit cooler down there. I have tons of pupa! I hope the beetles look ok when they turn. We did have 2 beetles when I first got the worms but I haven't seen them since day 1.

The beetles spend as much time down in the substrate as the worms do. Do you have a toilet paper roll or bit of egg carton in there? They like to climb on those and can often be found that way. Sounds like you'll soon have lots of beetles!

Really?
I know I don't have much experience with them yet but I told all I could think of about them.
I think photos are a lot of fun so I tried to put plenty on there but really, how much is there to show? I hope to one day catch my chicks in a tug of war with one.
However, once I put the meal worms down in the brooder they go nuts and all you see is blur!

It's perfect! You also have valuable and personal info about the mites that we don't.

Ah...that kind of photo would be incredible. Put the worms down and it's like Woody Woodpecker til the plate is clean. YUMMO!

I know! I need a video instead of a still photo. I haven't figured out how to upload a short video to You Tube yet so I can link it but that would be cute.

Nice page! I do have a suggestion though. As oneofseven pointed out, the font is a bit hard to read. I know, I have old eyes but others will too. it's not completely the fault of the font itself but the background. Would it be possible to have the center portion of the page where the info and pictures are a solid color with the patterned background on either side? I'm thinking a one-row borderless "table" could do that nicely. Set it up so the center is something like 60% of the page width and then you'd not have to worry about resizing for different screen resolutions.

I have studied web page creation some though it's been a long time ago and I never was a true expert at it. Just some suggestions. Free advice, it's worth every penny you pay for it!
